The summer months 2021 will be a time of uncertainty about what we can do to continue the vital human connections enjoyed by Rotary in years past. It is clear, however, that the hands-to-face mantra is going to remain part of the routine. Rotary is changing. The months that will lead up to the summer of 2021, there is still uncertainty about what we can do to provide services to the local community. This involves the importance of human connection that was enjoyed by Rotary members of old. Even though the "hands facing space" idea is likely to be a part of the routine in our club, there's no doubt that the feeling of security is developing and more people are making face-to faces connections. Rotary has changed. Rotary has changed. Our methods have been refined to maintain online meetings in our businesses, while reintroducing social and service activities through an in-person format. To create an exciting new future, we've taken the new possibilities and merged them with our most successful pre-pandemic behaviors. It's an encouraging thing to hear that 75 percent of Rotary clubs are planning to carry on their "business regular" activities. This summer the majority of Rotary members have been out with their families and friends, working on various projects including river and beach cleanings and litter pick-ups. You can listen to the piece below. Amanda Watkin - General Secretary's Column in Rotary Magazine In a recent Rotary survey, I was encouraged to learn that 75 percent of clubs are organizing the same 'business as usual' events and initiatives that have previously benefitted communities across the nations of Great Britain and Ireland. It is great to see that the Rotary support center team offers important resources to assist with the maintenance and promotion of infrastructure and keeping members and the general public secure. Insurance and compliance are also important. The inventiveness and creativity of our members to find solutions to some of the most challenging challenges is astounding and I am so thankful that the opportunity to be a part of Rotary was given to me in 2002. Rotary gave me a trusted network with like-minded people which has led to the creation of friendships that are genuine. Let's now invite our family members and our friends to join us as part of this amazing community.
